The BDC recognizes that many of its clients experience difficulty competing both in the domestic as well as export markets. The Export Competitiveness Study will attempt the following:
- Identify new technologies within industries.
- Encourage firms to enter new and more complex activities.
- Increase linkages among local firms; and
- Master complex technological tasks within specific industries.
These initiatives are designed to provide the firms with a fighting chance to survive and grow in a competitive economy. Some of the measures which may be considered are:
- Specific industry training programs.
- Productivity benchmarking exercises and quality awareness programs;
- Health, Safety and Environment awareness programs; and
- Promotion of subcontracting and other linkages, including Business Process Outsourcing.
