This Sector has evolved around the developments in the Oil and Petrochemical Sector. This sector has been categorized into 4 sub sectors viz:

• The Integrated Steel Mill [ISPATT] and two downstream re-rollers viz:
  • Caribbean Steel Mills and Centrin Trinidad Steel.
• Extruders of wire rods who produce fasteners, mesh fencing, wire, nuts, bolts and screws. There are approximately ten (10) Companies in this grouping who have formed themselves into the Wire Rod Users Association.
• Metal Fabricators. These Companies/businesses are involved in the fabrication of tanks, drums, truck bodies, furniture and fittings. Establishments in this sub sector range from the small cottage operations to exporters.
• Manufacturers and Assemblers of air conditioners, electrical switchgear, circuit breakers and walk-in freezers. This sub-sector possesses a high design and engineering level as the products often incorporate special technology for their function.
